The major evaluation instruments for SRV-based evaluation, PASS and PASSING, have often been taught and used for the purpose of teaching SRV in a thorough and compelling way to those who participate on teams. In fact, PASSING workshops have been used as a practicum experience beyond the multi-day theory course much more often than as an actual evaluation tool. Susan Thomas will detail the profound and fundamental change made within one organization as a result of two SRV-based evaluations. Much is to be learned from both the evaluation conducted and from observing the change over time. As always, time will be given for presentation, followed by group discussion.
Susan Thomas directs the Training Institute for Human Service Planning, Leadership and Change Agentry, and also serves as the Training Coordinator. She has been an associate of the Training Institute for many years and holds degrees in psychology and special education. She is author of numerous articles on Normalization and Social Role Valorization and is co-author, with Professor Wolfensberger, of PASSING and other publications. Ms Thomas has also worked for many years in voluntary, informal service to people with disabilities, and poor and homeless people. She has presented workshops with Professor Wolfensberger in many countries. She is a regular columnist for the SRV Journal and writes about many issues related to Social Role Valorization.
