SUMMARY:From Vision to Action: Practical Aspects of Role Theory via Zoom from India
DESCRIPTION:For those with some knowledge of Social Role Valorization principles\, and who are hungry for how to help people move into valued roles\, this workshop is for you. How do you identify roles people might be interested in? Once you have a role in mind\, how might you help a person enter that role? How can adaptations and accommodations be used which will enable people with significant competencies impairments to be successful?   Ranjana and Betsy will discuss some of the practical ways that we can walk alongside people with disabilities as they successfully move into valued roles. An “SRV Gem”\, this workshop is intended for people who have attended brief versions of a day or less covering the basics of “SRV”.

SUMMARY:Foundations of Inclusive Practice: A Glimpse of SRV via Zoom from India
DESCRIPTION:Across India\, change leaders committed to better lives for people with developmental and psychosocial disability are talking about and learning about Social Role Valorization\, a powerful set of ideas about how to assist people to have full\, rich\, meaningful lives. SRV provides a high-order framework for understanding the society in which we live\, and the place people with disabilities tend to hold within in. As well\, SRV thinking is accompanied by very practical implementation strategies to help people with disabilities have access to the good things of life. \nPlease join us as we introduce participants to the basics of Social Role Valorization. This overview event will present the idea of assisting people with disabilities and other devalued conditions to have positive social roles as a productive and helpful response to wounding life experiences. People wishing to understand the life experiences of people they support and the implications of those life experiences\, and are committed to the work of making life better are encouraged to attend. \nThis foundational material is essential to those wishing to serve others in meaningful ways\, and who are impassioned to make a difference in the lives of others. Many participants experience the learning within this event as the most helpful\, inspiring\, and clarifying body of knowledge they have been exposed to in their professional development\, and it assists in long-term understanding and focus on being of service to others in ways that matter. \nThe workshop includes multi-media presentation\, small and large group reflection and discussion\, and resource materials. Participants should be prepared for significant presentations as well.

SUMMARY:The Applied Customized Employment Certification Course: A Sneak Peek via Zoom from India
DESCRIPTION:Intended for those organizations and people registered for our 8 month certification course (much-delayed due to COVID)\, this workshop will whet our appetites for the promise and possibility of work roles for people with developmental disabilities\,  and gear us up for the upcoming 8 month practical certification course to come as soon as it is practical and safe. customized employment\, a person-centred\, individualized model of supported employment is of special significance as a pathway to work and careers that can lead to richer\, fuller lives for adults with significant disability. \nIn 2018\, we took the first steps toward exploring application of supported employment and individualized job development within the framework of Social Role Valorization through our “Real Work\, Real Lives\, and Real Contribution” workshops in Delhi\, Kolkata\, and Bengaluru. Fired by the enthusiasm and deep commitment of the participating organizations\, we are all set to launch the Certificate Course in Applied Customized Employment as soon as it is safe and feasible to do so. In the meantime\, this offering aims to give you a refresher of the workshop in 2018\, a peek into what the impending Certificate program has to offer and to share some of our learnings and experiences from the field as we turn theory into practice. \nThis session is reserved for the organizations participating in the upcoming 8 month supported employment certification course
