DESCRIPTION:Across India\, change leaders committed to better lives for people with developmental and psychosocial disability are talking about and learning about Social Role Valorization\, a powerful set of ideas about how to assist people to have full\, rich\, meaningful lives. The global pandemic is causing us to interact differently\, and Keystone Institute is adapting by providing our courses and events on-line\, using the best platform we can find. This event is a pilot\, and we need your help by attending it and providing us with feedback and suggestions. \nPlease join us as we introduce participants to the basics of Social Role Valorization. This overview event will present the idea of assisting people with disabilities and other devalued conditions to have positive social roles as a productive and helpful response to wounding life experiences. People wishing to understand the life experiences of people they support and the implications of those life experiences\, and are committed to the work of making life better are encouraged to attend. \nThis foundational material is essential to those wishing to serve others in meaningful ways\, and who are impassioned to make a difference in the lives of others. Many participants experience the learning within this event as the most helpful\, inspiring\, and clarifying body of knowledge they have been exposed to in their professional development\, and it assists in long-term understanding and focus on being of service to others in ways that matter. \nThe workshop includes multi-media presentation\, small and large group reflection and discussion\, and resource materials. Participants should be prepared for significant presentations as well.l

DESCRIPTION:Please join  Ronda Held\, Mike Rungie\, and John Armstrong for an exploration of how social devaluation and SRV theory can be a helpful way to understand the experiences of many older people in society\, and offer insights into how SRV might be applied. This session will outline some of the issues contributing to the ongoing wounding of older people\, and provide examples of ways in which SRV has been used to address these and work towards good lives for older people. SUMMARY:Shhhh: A Dialogue on SRV and Sexuality via Zoom Platform from India
DESCRIPTION:The development of one’s socio-sexuality identity is an important part of having a rich and fulfilling life. Relationships\, exploration\, love\, intimacy\, well-being of self\, and comradeship are all a part of the picture. For many people with disabilities\, social judgement\, taboos\, perceptions\, and role-casting tend to hinder developmental growth\, and the results can include a deep loneliness\, feelings of rejection\, and missing out on important formative experiences.  Join us for an exploration of the guidance SRV theory can provide as we analyze the light that SRV can shine on how to help people towards a robust sense of themselves\, their socio-sexual identities\, and relationships. Viveka and Betsy will provide some basic “SRV Info” on typical responses to sexual expression by people with disability\, and together we’ll talk through ways to work towards better. Expect a lively moderated dialogue which may well raise more questions than it answers! \nPre-requisite: For members of the All India SRV Leadership Network (Graduates of a 3 or 4 day intensive SRV workshop only) \n  \n
